As a full-time church minister since , I have had the task of observing the lives of thousands of believers. Consequently, I have come to the conclusion that there are believers in the church who say they are Christians, while, at the same time, espousing value systems that are secular. You make major decisions without first determining God’s will. Many believers are functional atheists because they make major decisions, such as marriage, moving to another region, changing jobs, or changing churches, without hearing from God, getting input from spiritual leadership or searching the Scriptures. In this “selfie” secular age, appearance, status, and popularity with friends are sometimes pursued more than understanding the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom Prov. When we care more about what people think of us than respecting the ways of God, then we are secular. You are led by money not by the Holy Spirit.

Since Freemasonry has attempted so strenuously to claim that they are just a “good ole boy” fraternity that does good works and has a good time, most people will .

Charles I, King of England, was tried and executed by his subjects. As Charles climbed the steps to the scaffold, a crowd, estimated at 10, , gathered to watch. The King spoke quietly to his chaplain, Bishop Juxon. He forgave the executioner, turned his thoughts to God, knelt and laid his head on the chopping block. Instead, “up from the people went a great deep groan, a groan, said an eye-witness, ‘as I never heard before and desire I may never hear again.

The rule of law is the foundation of our freedoms. It replaces an ancient concept known as the Divine Right of Kings. The two are incompatible. A nation not ruled by laws will be ruled by kings. The title is irrelevant. Therefore, protecting the rule of law is vital. But, we are not doing that.

I married young and have not experienced long term singleness, the unmet desire for companionship or the chance of not having children. Yet, having been involved in marriage ministry and walking for 15 years alongside people in pastoral ministry, I can say without hesitation that who you marry matters. It affects your happiness on earth, but much more than that, it has eternal consequences.

Spouses either lead each other toward Christ or away from him, and a life lived serving the Lord can be much harder in a difficult marriage. But sometimes the reality of a book like this is needed to help people prevent making life-altering, unwise choices. If you are a single woman and hoping to be married , I wonder what your internal monologue tends to be regarding men and marriage.

Before Israel founded, ‘Muslims would not have disputed connection Jews have’ JERUSALEM – A prestigious Palestinian professor told WND that the Muslim denial of a Jewish connection to the Temple Mount is political and that historically Muslims did not dispute Jewish ties to the site.

You may have heard about it. I did a quick search regarding the current status of reviews for this book, and to my surprise the first hit that Google delivers is Andrew Perriman’s 3-part review with an apparent 4th part forthcoming which I recommend only to see the sort of reaction Dan’s book has gotten, gets, and will get from people who right now live in the generous aftermarket of the Reformation but want to undo or bankrupt the Original Equipment Manufacturer.

Perriman has been known to read this blog from time to time, so I’m sure he’ll come by to say, “no I didn’t,” and we can unpack that in the comments. My brief summary critique of that review is that he obviously didn’t read the introduction or the afterword — because he has criticized only what the book didn’t do, when in fact it never intended to do anything but what it does. I think there’s something telling in that outcome, and it tells us something about this book.

The book is easily summarized. Faithful Fred Butler has the short version , and Amazon. With those in hand, let’s not worry about a book report here, shall we? Let’s consider the real question: Having that insight, and knowing Dan as I do, I can see something in this book most people will overlook upon reading it: One of my beefs with contemporary Christian publishing is how frankly-sterile it is. What sets Dan’s book apart from that crowd is that, while it does not seek to be great literature, it finds the path in that direction because it comes out of a man who owns this subject.

This is an honest book, therefore it treads the path of art; it is a better read by half than the average Christian book on doctrine.

Exploring the origins of the New Testament canon and other biblical and theological issues Is the Bible Foundational to Christianity? Engaging with Andy Stanley September 20, One of the most profound challenges for Christians as we live in an ever-more-hostile world is how to properly defend the faith against the incessant attacks against it. And these attacks have taken their toll. We have seen far too many casualties over the years as people leave the church because they had doubts or questions that were never answered.

We need to find a compelling way to address the questions and doubts people have about their faith without ducking the hard questions. But while Stanley has correctly diagnosed the disease, serious questions remain about whether he has offered an adequate cure.

I couldn’t agree more with Dan Dennett on the notion that many kids today are so heavily influenced by characters from television, internet, etc. Dan seems to indicate this as a Western influence on non-Western cultures, but I think this effect on some people in this information age is universal.

Underwater archaeologists have discovered evidence of prehistoric caribou hunts that provide unprecedented insight into the social and seasonal organization of early peoples in the Great Lakes region. The following are answers to some of the most common questions that ING and its affiliates across the country have encountered in that time. These answers reflect the fact that Islamic teachings are the product of a dynamic conversation among Muslim scholars and between the scholars and the laity who apply their best understanding of the primary sources of Islam rather than a fixed set of laws and regulations. This points to the fact that Islam, like all religions, does not live or speak apart from the people who practice it.

There is therefore no monolithic Islam, since, like any other religion, Islam exists only as it is understood and practiced by its adherents. As in other faith traditions, Muslim scholars have developed varied positions and responses to the numerous questions and issues that have been raised and discussed over the past years in the various lands where Islam is practiced.

Freemasonry is incompatible with Christianity! Freemasonry’s syncretistic view of God In Freemasonry the god of the secret societies is covertly substituted for the One True God. This false god is identified in the Masonic lodges as “the Great Architect. Yet in Masonic lodges prayers are always directed to the generic ‘Great Architect of the Universe’.

Masons deliberately omit the holy name of Jesus Christ from their prayers. Without any intervention needed by Jesus Christ.

Chapters 1—11 provide an introduction to the Book of Genesis, the Pentateuch, and the whole Bible. First, the author intends to draw a line connecting the God of the Fathers and the God of the Sinai covenant with the God who created the world. Second, the author intends to show that the call of the patriarchs and the Sinai covenant have as their ultimate goal the reestablishment of God’s original purpose in Creation.

At any rate, various ‘origin stories’ or ‘creation myths’ about the activities of a variety of creator-gods are still extant in what remains of the literatures of ancient Egypt and ancient Mesopotamia. But the combination of such accounts with narratives about more recent times testifies to an additional motivation.

Recently, I linked to this nearly four-year-old post in the body of another. Many had not seen it first time ’round, though it kicked off some waves in other bloggy locations at the time. The subject remains current, and I need to dip into the well once and maybe twice this week here. So here ’tis once again, lightly edited.

In this, I write for our readers who are yoots, for their own benefit; or for parents, to share with their yoots. It’ll also work for pastors, especially yoot pastors.

And then what Tim and David added really cracked me up! I copied those 2 tweets together in an image so people could be sure to read them in order, and tweeted it.

How to Motivate Christians to Change: Authoritarianism, Pragmatism, or Gospelism? At first glance, they look pretty different. Both pragmatism and authoritarianism are fixated on results. Both define success by outward or visible change, and therefore they subject their methods to any number of metrics for measuring visible fruit. Both depend upon human ingenuity to get the job done. They rely upon brains, brawn, or beauty to accomplish their ends.

What might you hear? Both exploit the flesh whether through fear or appealing to appetite in order to motivate action instead of appealing to the spiritual new man in the gospel. Both start with the imperatives GG: Shame and moralism are the favorite tools of both methodologies.
